Snowfall is expected overnight on State Highway 73, affecting Arthur’s Pass and Porters Pass.
According to the MetService, snow flurries may fall to 800 metres at Arthur’s Pass between 1AM and 7AM on Monday, 19 May. However, little to no accumulation is expected on the road.
At Porters Pass, rain is expected to turn to snow above 800 metres from 11PM Sunday through to 7AM Monday. Between 1 to 2 centimetres of snow could settle during that period.
The warning was issued at 8:43PM on Sunday, 18 May, with the next update due at 11AM Monday.
