A house on Estuary Road in South New Brighton has gutted by fire.
The blaze broke out around 10.30PM on Tuesday.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Blair Walklin said the property was “well involved in fire” when crews arrived.
Three fire appliances responded to the blaze — two from the ANZAC Station and one from Woolston Station.
The house was unoccupied at the time. “Crews worked to extinguish the fire and it has subsequently been put out,” Walklin said.
A fire investigator was at the scene this morning to determine the cause of the blaze.
“We haven’t been advised the fire is suspicious at this stage,” Walklin said.
Crews left the scene around 2.40AM, and one appliance returned this morning to deal with lingering hotspots.
A neighbour told chrislynchmedia.com the property had recently been sold and the owners had been working hard with renovations.
Police were also back at the scene this morning.
