A Christchurch mum has been left “scared and frightened” after a man smashed the back windscreen of her car on Pages Road in what police have described as a “family harm incident.”
In a Facebook post, shared over 800 times tonight, the driver said she was heading to Eastgate just before 1pm with her 4 year old daughter, her friend and her friend’s child, when the frightening episode happened.
While on Pages Road, she said she noticed a silver car “being weird all over the road.”
She changed lanes and passed the car. It then moved on to the same lane, and the female driver (in the offending car) signaled for her to pull over.
She said she didn’t comply as she said she didn’t know the driver.
The car was ‘tail-gating her vehicle and tried to overtake using the inside lane.
The mum stopped her car near the Mobile station on Pages Road before a man got out of his car and tried to open her door.

“Realising it was locked, he starting booting the passenger’s door where my daughter was sitting.”
“She was screaming and in tears. He then jumped on top of my car and started jumping on the back window, smashing [glass] all over our babies in the back seat.”
“A 5 year-old-kid then jumped out of the [offending] car.” That child was picked up by people in the car and then took off.
A police spokesperson said “it appears to have been a family harm incident. We were notified at about 12:40pm.”
“It was reported that one person had damaged a vehicle but there were no reported injuries.”
