Police are investigating a robbery at a commercial premises near the corner of Stourbridge Street and Lyttelton Street in Spreydon.
A police spokesperson told Chris Lynch Media officers were notified of the incident at around 8.20am.
“Police received a report of a robbery at a commercial premises near the corner of Stourbridge Street and Lyttelton Street. Police responded, however, the alleged offenders had already fled the scene in a vehicle.
“There are no injuries reported at this stage and Police are making enquiries.”
Shortly after the incident, a member of the public reported seeing a vehicle matching the description driving erratically nearby.
The witness told Chris Lynch Media they were cut off on Brougham Street when a group of youths allegedly ran a red light before crashing behind their vehicle.
“I could see they all had hoodies and gloves on in a smashed blue car,” the witness said. “They then overtook me with the windows down and I could see four youths inside.”
The witness described the vehicle as a light blue car or minivan that appeared to have sustained damage.
“If I had more guts I could have chased them and rung police, but I turned off and went home in shock,” they said.
