Three youths have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries that occurred in Pegasus over the past few weeks.
The incidents targeted two commercial premises on Pegasus Main Street, with the break-ins taking place on Friday, 30 August, and Sunday, 15 September.
During the most recent burglary, which took place at approximately 1:50 am, the group used tools to gain entry to the premises. They targeted cash, alcohol, vapes, and cigarettes before fleeing the scene.
A short time later, police located two stolen vehicles abandoned in the surrounding Pegasus area. These vehicles are believed to have been used in the burglaries.
Following an investigation that included reviewing CCTV footage and tracking the stolen vehicles, police executed a search warrant at a property in Riccarton.
During the search, they recovered multiple items taken in the burglaries.
As a result of the investigation, a youth appeared in Christchurch Youth Court today, while an 18-year-old woman is set to appear in Christchurch District Court on 20 September, both facing charges of burglary and receiving stolen property.
A second youth involved in the incidents has been referred to Youth Aid.
