Youth crime spree across Christchurch ends with person injured

Police are making enquiries after a number of incidents involving youths were reported across the city earlier today.

Senior Sergeant Stephen McDaniel said police were first called to a theft at a commercial premises on Hills Road at around 3.25pm.

It is alleged the offenders took a cash till before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

A short time later, police were alerted to a burglary at a commercial premises on North Avon Road.

No items were taken during that incident, and the offenders again fled in a vehicle.

At about 6.30pm, police were called to Lussa Close in Broomfield following an unsuccessful attempt to steal a vehicle, which resulted in a vehicle colliding with a person.

One person sustained injuries and was treated by medical staff at the scene.

Senior Sergeant McDaniel said enquiries to locate the youths involved are ongoing.
