A woman found critically injured at her Christchurch home has died in hospital.

The woman was found at a house on Port Hills Road on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called the the property just after 11AM.

A police spokesman said the woman who was taken to hospital in a critical condition following this incident in Heathcote on Tuesday has died.

He said a post-mortem will be conducted today.

Police inquiries into the circumstances of the death are ongoing.
