Christchurch police have released more details about a series of aggravated robberies in the city overnight.
As first reported by chrislynchmedia.com, police were called to the attempted aggravated robbery of a Jeffreys Road store in Fendalton at about 6.30pm.
A police spokesman told chrislynchmedia.com that four young offenders entered the store, some armed with implements but not firearms, and fled without taking anything after a fog cannon was activated.
About half an hour later, the same group is believed to have targeted a liquor store on Prestons Road, near Main North Road.
Three of the offenders entered the store carrying implements and stole a number of items before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
Police are following several lines of enquiry to locate the group, the spokesman said.
“We are also providing support to the victims. While they are understandably shaken, we are grateful nobody was physically injured.
At this time, Police are unable to comment further.”
