A woman has died following an incident at a property in Papanui this afternoon.
Acting Senior Sergeant Dougall Struthers said police were called to Main North Road at about 2.40pm, where a person was found in a critical condition.
“Despite best efforts by emergency services, the person died at the scene.”
Struthers said the death was being treated as unexplained.

Chris Lynch Media understands that a child and a baby were inside the house at the time of the incident.
“Police are now working to establish exactly what has occurred,” Acting Senior Sergeant Dougall Struthers said.
“Members of the public may notice an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.”
A neighbour said there was a significant police presence in the late afternoon, although only one marked police car was visible outside the property at 5PM, which is located on a back section.
