Two people have been taken to Christchurch Hospital following a two vehicle crash near Lincoln this afternoon.

Police were called to the intersection of Weedons Road and Springston Rolleston Road shortly after 1PM.

St John confirmed it was notified of the crash and responded with two ambulances, a rapid response unit, and an operations manager.

Two people with moderate injuries were transported to Christchurch Hospital.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
