Christchurch police are investigating two supermarket burglaries that occurred overnight.
A police spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com that around 3:40am, officers received reports of a break-in at a commercial premises on Skyhawk Road, Wigram.
Two people attempted to force entry into the New World supermarket before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.
About ten minutes earlier, police were alerted to a burglar alarm repeatedly activating at another commercial premises on Halswell Road.
On arrival, officers found a broken window, the spokesperson said.
Confectionery was taken from the New World store. No suspects were located, and enquiries are ongoing.
