Two people have been taken into custody and their vehicle seized after they were seen driving in a dangerous manner and subsequently crashing into multiple vehicles last night.

A police spokesman said while police were responding to a separate incident, they sighted a person driving in a dangerous manner just before 10pm.

 “Police subsequently turned off their lights and sirens, observing the vehicle from a distance.

Shortly after, the vehicle has crashed into multiple other vehicles at the Fitzgerald /Moorhouse Avenue intersection.”

A St John spokeswoman said they responded with three ambulances, two rapid response units, and one manager to the scene.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient in a serious condition and one patient in a moderate condition transported to Christchurch hospital.

One further patient in a minor condition was treated at the scene.”

Multiple motorists told chrislynchmedia.com they saw the offending vehicle travelling at speeds of over 100 kilometres an hour.
