Motorists travelling over the Rakaia River bridge face delays this morning after a truck broke down, blocking the southbound lane.

Police were notified at 5.55am about the incident.

The truck remains on the bridge, prompting a traffic warning for those heading south.

Traffic management is being put in place, and drivers have been urged to take extra care while arrangements are made to remove the vehicle.
