A youth led police on a slow-speed pursuit along Main South Road last night after taking a stolen tractor for a late-night joyride.

Senior Sergeant Stephen McDaniel said officers received multiple reports of the tractor being driven on the road before locating it around 9.20pm, when the youth failed to stop when signalled.

As a precaution, police flanked the tractor front and rear and put traffic management in place for other motorists, despite the youth travelling in the correct lane at low speed.

The pursuit came to an end near Weedons Ross Road at around 9.40pm when the youth stopped and was taken into custody. He has since been referred to Youth Aid.
