Christchurch’s Tower Junction shopping centre is expanding its retail offering, with three new stores opening between June and October this year.
Australian homewares brand Adairs opened its first South Island store at Tower Junction in June.
New Zealand-owned retailers Petdirect and North Beach are also set to launch new stores at the centre in the coming months.
Ngāi Tahu Property, which owns Tower Junction, says the additions will enhance the diversity of shopping options available and demonstrate the centre’s continued appeal to retailers.
Pet product retailer Petdirect will open its first South Island location at the end of July. The store will feature dog washes and an expanded selection of frozen food and pet products. Head of Retail Aaron Waters said Tower Junction was a natural fit for the brand, noting the central location and convenient parking. Recruitment is underway for 10 to 12 staff.
North Beach, a streetwear retailer stocking international and local brands, will take over the former Raeward Fresh site. It will become the company’s third store in the South Island and is expected to open by the end of October. Head of Retail Johnny Dee said the store’s large footprint will allow North Beach to offer an extended range of products and better serve the Christchurch market.
Adairs’ New Zealand Regional Manager Christopher Smith said the opening of the new store went smoothly, with strong customer support. The store, which includes products from Christchurch-founded brand Mocka, is currently Adairs’ only South Island location.
Ngāi Tahu Property Asset Manager Mark Youthed welcomed the new tenants and said they contribute to the vibrancy and growth of the retail centre.
