The South City Mall witnessed a spectacle of enthusiasm as over 3,000 people gathered to celebrate the grand opening of JB Hi-Fi’s latest store, heralding a new era of retail experience for the city.

The new Christchurch store represents the latest jewel in the crown of the company’s nationwide expansion and innovation efforts.

Tim Edwards, the Managing Director of JB Hi-Fi New Zealand said “the grand opening of the South City store (On Thursday night) was an exciting step for the JB Hi-Fi brand.

The resurgence of the South City mall meant the centre felt like a natural progression for a second Christchurch store.”

With the introduction of JB Hi-Fi’s vibrant new store design to the South Island, customers can now immerse themselves in a vast array of options – from cutting-edge computers to immersive audio systems, the latest gaming consoles, essential home appliances, and a treasury of music and movies.

“We’re retail done differently. We want our stores to be a fun shopping experience, no matter what you’re looking for.

“As the home of music and movies, it’s great to be able to celebrate the new store with some great Kiwi music.

“We know the success of this store is linked to the mall and other retailers, so while the event was ultimately to celebrate our new store, it was great to see so many people who potentially haven’t been to South City Mall for a while.”

Adding to the festivities, the event spotlighted the vibrant New Zealand music scene.

“As the home of music and movies, we’re big supporters of NZ music. It was great to be able to have Drax Project perform.

They flew in from Australia especially and then stuck around to sign posters and take pictures with fans.”
