State Highway 7 near Hanmer Springs has reopened following a crash earlier this afternoon, but a major highway in Mid Canterbury remains closed.

State Highway 7 at Mouse Point Road, north of Culverden, is open again after a crash near the Hanmer Springs turnoff.

Motorists are being urged to travel with care through the area.

Meanwhile, State Highway 1 at Chertsey remains closed following a serious crash.
