A car has been gutted in a suspicious fire, near the same spot as another car fire in Christchurch’s Red Zone.

A Fire and Emergency shift manager told Chris Lynch firefighters were called to Stour Drive in Burwood at 9.15MP on Wednesday.

A fire appliance from Anzac Station was required to put out the blaze.

The fire is thought to be suspicious.

A nearby resident said she heard “a really large bang and explosion on Stour Drive and could see “lots of flames and smoke.”

She said it was just metres from where another car was set on fire on the 9th of April.

Emergency tape has been placed around the burnt-out car.
