The search for missing 79-year-old Elisabeth in Riccarton has been suspended for the evening and will resume on Friday.

Police said they have been monitoring information received about her possible whereabouts and will continue to do so overnight.

A police spokesperson said, “Area searches were carried out through Riccarton, nearby high schools, sports fields and retirement homes.

Staff also searched both sides of the Avon River from the Botanical Gardens traffic bridge and Hagley Park.”

Residents are being urged to check their properties, including sheds and garages.

“If you see Elisabeth or have any information that may assist, please call Police immediately on 111 and quote file number 250604/5465,” the spokesperson said.
