Used pill packets and a hospital patient property bag were among household rubbish dumped illegally at a Christchurch subdivision.
A Yaldhurst resident told Chris Lynch via his Facebook page he and his partner were out walking on Thursday night at the Yaldhurst Park Development when they came across at least 19 bags of household rubbish.
The frustrated resident says with a lot of people stuck at home over lock down, a lot of household cleaning has been done “but how disgusting to just dump it in our beautiful environment to blow everywhere.”

He says “so many people have been using this area during lock down alert level 3 and 4 to walk their pets, ride bikes, kids have been playing in the trees and dirt piles around here, and lots of bird life live in this area.”
“There are used pill packets and a patient property bag from the hospital amongst the rubbish with the culprit’s name on them, so we will definitely be reporting it to the Christchurch City Council.”
The resident says it’s concerning that this person has recently been in the hospital, as this stuff could potentially be a carrier of Covid-19 for all we know, as the virus can live on surfaces for a few days.”
People caught dumping rubbish illegally can be fined up to $400 according to the Christchurch City Council.
