Campers at Spencer Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park can look forward to upgraded facilities, with construction now underway to replace the main amenities block destroyed by fire.
Hann Construction Ltd has started work on the rebuild, with excavation and foundation preparation progressing on site.
Christchurch City Council Manager of Activities and Events, Colin Jacka, said the new development includes three modern buildings designed to improve comfort and enhance the camping experience.
“These new facilities will offer toilets and showers suitable for year-round camping, a kitchen and dining space for shared meals, and a TV and games room to provide entertainment for all ages,” Jacka said.
The three buildings will be linked by covered walkways and complemented by a large outdoor BBQ area, creating a communal and welcoming hub for holidaymakers.
Jacka said the Council is committed to reducing disruption during construction and ensuring the project is delivered with a focus on sustainability.
“We’re excited to see this project come to life and restore a place that is much loved by our community. This rebuild is about enhancing the camping experience while reducing environmental impact,” he said.
The new facilities will feature solar power systems and hot water heat pumps to significantly cut emissions and improve energy efficiency.
Spencer Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park, owned and operated by the Council, remains a popular destination for families and visitors, with the upgraded facilities expected to be ready in time for the summer holidays.
