State Highway 1 is closed at Burnham this morning after a police patrol car was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Main South Road.

Senior Sergeant Rob Irvine says an officer was conducting road policing activities at the time of the incident.

Two people sustained minor to moderate injuries and were assessed by ambulance services at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.

Diversions are in place from Thomsons Road and Norwood Road, with traffic being directed around Burnham School Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while emergency services remain on scene.
