Emergency services are at the scene of a serious two-vehicle crash on Western Valley Road, Little River. 

A police spokesperson said police were called about 11.25am. 

One person has been seriously injured.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson said the patient had been transported to Christchurch hospital.

The road is closed, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
