Police were called to a crash on State Highway 1, between Waiau East Road and Down Road, at 8.25am.

Two vehicles were involved, and one lane was blocked while emergency services responded.

One person received minor to moderate injuries, while another person was reported to have moderate to serious injuries.

Towing was being arranged to clear the vehicles from the scene.
