Emergency services have been called to a reported boat wreck off the Kaikoura Peninsula on Tuesday morning.

A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com police were notified at 10am.

She said one person had made it to shore and was the only person aboard the vessel.

A St John spokeswoman said they were notified of a water incident near the Kaikoura Peninsula and an ambulance responded.

She said one patient, in a minor condition, was assessed and treated at the scene.
