A person has died following a water-related incident in the Waimakariri River today.
Senior Sergeant Stephen McDaniel said the incident was reported to emergency services around 4.30pm.
A helicopter was also sent to the scene.
“Despite the efforts of emergency services, the person died at the scene.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.”
Police did not say how the person died, but it’s understood the person drowned, following a medical event.
