A person has died following a crash involving a truck and two cars in Templeton this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Dawson Road and Newtons Road around 2.45PM.

A police spokesperson confirmed a person died at the scene.

Chris Lynch Media understands the person who died was the driver of one of the cars.

A St John Spokesperson said “we responded with two ambulances, one first response unit and one operations manager.

“One patient, in a moderate condition, was transported to Christchurch Hospital.”

A scene examination was carried out by the Serious Crash Unit, and the road is expected to reopen on Friday night.

Police said their investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.

A spokesperson said, “Our thoughts are with their family at this difficult time.”
