A person has been airlifted to Christchurch Hospital after falling from a cliff at Taylors Mistake.
A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com the incident happened at 12.40pm on Sunday.
The person suffered a “significant injury” the spokeswoman said.
A boat was used to bring the person to lifeguards in the area, before a rescue helicopter transported them to hospital.
Fire and Emergency crews also attended the scene.
A St John spokesperson confirmed to chrislynchmedia.com “one patient was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital.”
The condition of the patient wasn’t immediately available.
