Pedestrian seriously injured in Hokitika crash, SH6 closed

A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being struck by a car in Hokitika, forcing the closure of part of State Highway 6.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash on SH6/Fitzherbert Street, which is closed between Tudor Street and Hampden Street.

Police said one person had sustained serious injuries.

Detours are in place while emergency services remain at the scene.

Motorists are being asked to allow extra time and follow directions from emergency services and traffic management staff.

Further updates are expected as the road status changes.
