• ELGAS will begin slowly repressurising the Northwood LPG network early tomorrow after crews finished switching off every gas meter connected to the system.

“Our team has finished switching off all the gas meters on the Northwood LPG reticulation network,” the company said.

“We are now finalising plans to begin slowly and safely repressurising the network with LPG in the early hours of tomorrow to allow for the required system pressure tests.

“We expect this to take much of the day to be completed.”

Residents have been warned not to switch their gas meters back on or interfere with the red tags attached by ELGAS crews.

“It is critical to your safety and the recommissioning process that you do not switch on the gas meter at your home or interfere with the red tag our team has attached to it,” ELGAS said.

“Each gas meter on the network must be switched off.”

The company said customers would receive further information about the testing results and the process for restoring their gas supply.

“We will be in contact again with further information and updates on the outcome of the testing and the steps to bring customers back online.”

Residents must not restart LPG appliances or relight pilot lights until ELGAS has confirmed it is safe.

“A reminder, at no point should you attempt to restart any LPG appliances or relight pilot lights until you have been advised to do so by ELGAS.

“Thank you for your patience as we work to safely restore this service.”
