At least three people have been rushed to Christchurch hospital after a stabbing incident.
A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch police are responding to a report of a serious assault on Medbury Terrace in Fendalton.
She said emergency services received a report of the incident at 10:30pm.
The police spokeswoman said one person has sustained serious injuries and has been transported to hospital.
Two other people are in a moderate condition.
Officers are at the scene working to establish the circumstances of the incident and to identify those involved.
It’s understood a party was taking place when the incident occured.
A resident in the area said there were about ten police cars, two ambulances, and a fire appliance near Medbury Terrace.
She said she was told one person was stabbed in the stomach and it was “pretty bad.”
Another resident told Chris Lynch parts of Clyde Road has been blocked off between Kotare Street and Medbury Terrace.
