A much-loved father of 5 children has been killed in a motorcycle crash.

Steve Smith died following a crash on State Highway 1 in Burnham on Friday night.

Canterbury police said the crash, which involved a car and a motorcycle, happened just before 10pm.

Mr Smith died at the scene.

His partner Shontel Hardakerr told Chris Lynch Steve was loved by so many people and his children will miss him a lot.

“Steve was a loving fantastic person loved by his mother, father, and two brothers.”

“He made massive changes and became such a growing happy person with so much love to his children.”

“It’s not easy to think this is real but I’m thankful for all the cherished memories we’ve had and we will forever love and remember him forever.”

Shontel earlier wrote on her Facebook page “You were honestly our rock and the most amazing most bubbly most cutest man I could ever love, I’m so thankful to love you and share the most amazing most precious memories with you.” (Shontel provided permission for the post to be published.)

A police spokesperson said an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
