Pedestrian in hospital after incident on Christchurch’s Southern Motorway

One person has been taken to Christchurch hospital after an incident involving a truck and a pedestrian on the Southern Motorway.

Emergency services were called to the motorway between Curletts Road and Barrington Street just before 2pm.

Police say a person was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital.

Police say “the circumstances of the crash will be subject to investigation.”

Police are thanking motorists for their patience while the road was closed.

SH76 was closed to westbound traffic from the Barrington Street overbridge this afternoon causing significant delays.
