A motorcyclist has been critically injured after crashing on Sumner Road last night.

A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the single-vehicle collision on Sumner Road at 11:36PM.

Multiple Fire and Emergency crews also attended the scene.

A St John spokeswoman said they sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

Paramedics treated and transported one patient to Christchurch hospital in a critical condition.

The Serious Crash Unit attended the crash.
