A motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a crash in Christchurch this morning.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to a collision between a car and a motorbike on Yaldhurst Road shortly after 11.30am.

A St John spokesperson said one ambulance and a rapid response unit were sent to the scene.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition,” the spokesperson said.

The circumstances of the crash are being investigated.
