Breaking news first at chrislynchmedia.com, a man has died following a serious house fire in Sydenham.
Emergency services were called to Korimako Lane just after 3.30PM.
A St John spokeswoman said two ambulances, one rapid response unit, and one operations manager attended the scene.
Emergency crews performed CPR on the man before he was taken to hospital, chrislynchmedia.com understands.
The man has since died.
A police spokeswoman said officers were assisting Fire and Emergency New Zealand, at the house fire in Sydenham.

The fire occurred at a rear unit of an Otautahi Housing Trust property.
Multiple Fire and Emergency crews attended to scene.
The fire was quickly put out by firefighters.
