A man has been arrested after a woman was seriously injured in Christchurch overnight.
A police spokeswoman said there was a report of an assault at a New Brighton Road address just after 11:30pm.
She said a woman was seriously injured.
A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with intent to injure and reckless disregard.
St John Ambulance spokesman Gerard Campbell said one patient was taken to Christchurch hospital by ambulance in a moderate condition.
The man is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court today.
