A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into a string of burglaries at building sites across North Canterbury and Selwyn.

On Monday 9 June, police carried out three search warrant, two at residential addresses and one at a storage unit.

CCTV footage from members of the public and construction sites played a key role in identifying the suspect. Police said the footage was crucial in bringing the investigation to a successful outcome.

Burglaries at building sites have caused significant disruption and financial loss to builders, contractors, and future homeowners.

Police are urging the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity around construction areas.

The man has been bailed and is due to appear in Christchurch District Court on 13 June.
