Christchurch’s 24 Hour Surgery has a higher than normal wait time for non-urgent patients.
The Pegasus practice on Madras Street advised patients on their Facebook page, “We currently have high numbers of people coming in to the 24 Hour Surgery (Christchurch), which will result in longer wait times for non-urgent patients.”
“Keeping you informed is important, as is providing care when you need it. We will update expected wait times in the comments,” the surgery’s Facebook post said.
At time of publishing, the wait time for non-urgent patients was five hours.
“All patients are triaged to assess their care needs, and patients whose needs are urgent will be seen with priority,” the post said.
The surgery team explains urgent and non-urgent matters in an earlier social media post.
“For urgent problems (depending on how bad they are, this may include bad infections, worsening asthma, broken bones, cuts needing stitches, or children getting quickly worse), our team is here to help. These patients will be seen as soon as possible.”
“Other options are available to support you with less urgent concerns (minor coughs, mild rashes, sore throats, etc.). Check out yourbestcare.co.nz as this site contains great information about other options available to you.”
The team advised the public to seek advice from HealthLine before going to the surgery or to visit practiceplus.nz “if you think a telehealth consultation may be appropriate for you. They often have same day appointments”.
