A light aircraft has crashed near Christchurch Airport, becoming entangled in a fence.

Police said they received a report of the incident, just after 11.30AM, but no injuries were reported and there was no risk of fire.

A Christchurch Airport spokesperson said the incident occurred near the aero club and did not involve the main runway.

“It was a minor incident with light aircraft at the aero club, not main runway, pilot not injured, emergency services stood down.”
