Residents of Kaiapoi are coming together to try and help find a missing dog.
Peanut the Chihuahua has been gone since Saturday 8th July, from Allison Cresent, Kaiapoi.
Nat O’Donnell, Peanut’s owner, has been supported by a professional dog tracker for advice on the next steps.
Donald Schwass previously helped track down another missing dog, 11 days after it first went missing in North Canterbury.
“Literally the whole community of Kaiapoi has come together to find Peanut since Saturday afternoon, Nat said.
“Myself and my kids arrived back from a holiday late Sunday night, and have been searching non-stop for her, along with everyone else.”
In a recent development in the search for Peanut, Nat says a person known to take and rehome dogs in the Kaiapoi area before, has told her that Peanut has been rehomed.
“But this person is not giving any information as to who has her. I have lodged a police report for a stolen dog and have the local council involved here too.”
Nat believes Peanut could be in Beachgrove area of Kaiapoi and there is someone who knows where she she is.
“Peanut is a loved family member and we desperately want her back and returned safely home. She is no bigger than a shoe, she is teeny tiny and only 1.5kgs, literally about the size of a kitten.
“I’d like to give a massive thank you to everyone actively out looking, also keeping an eye out wherever you go, and all the messages of support and advice.
“I would like to also thank everyone in Kaiapoi who is helping us locate wee Peanut.”
