A hot air balloon has crashed in Methven this morning leaving two people injured.

Police said they were advised around 8:20am of the incident.

“Officers are attending the area, and it’s believed two people are being checked over for minor injuries,” a police spokesperson said.

St John said they dispatched one First Response Unit and one PRIME responder.

“Two people were assessed at the scene, with one transported to a local medical centre in a minor condition,” a St John spokesperson said.

Chris Lynch Media spoke with Adventure Balloons NZ, based in Methven, and they said it was not one of their balloons. They also did not know who the ballooning company was.

The Civil Aviation Authority has been approached for comment.

More soon.
