A popular charity shop in Hornby is urging the public to drop off unwanted items during store opening hours.
Staff at the Salvation Army Hornby South Family Store have been frustrated by people taking donated goods left outside the store after hours, which limits the charity’s ability to raise money.
In an online post, the store said, “We don’t normally post photos like this, but we felt it was important to let people know that if you drop your donations off when our stores are closed, other people come and go through what you’ve donated to the Salvation Army family stores. This is what our staff and volunteers come to in the mornings when they arrive at work.”
A worker said, “It is so disheartening to arrive to this in the mornings, having to pay the dump fees because of lowlifes taking good items and leaving the rest thrown all over.
They make it harder to raise the funds to help those in need. Just wish the police would do something.”
The Salvation Army Hornby South Family Store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
