Four people have been injured after a car crashed down a bank, landing on its roof off Christchurch’s Summit Road.
A policewoman said they were advised of a crash at 2.15pm near the sign for Coronation Hill.
The vehicle lost control on a corner and landed upside down after hitting a bank.
By the time emergency services arrived, all of the occupants, believed to be teenagers, were out of the car.
A St John spokeswoman said they responded with two ambulances and one rapid response unit.
“We have assessed and treated four patients, three in a moderate condition and one in a minor condition, all transported to Christchurch hospital.”
The road was described as totally blocked in both directions, and a police officer closed the road at the Sign of the Kiwi the spokeswoman said.
Emergency services have asked Christchurch City Council contractors to organise a clean-up, as there is a bit of debris and oil on the road the spokeswoman said.
