A 23-year-old man has been arrested following a fleeing driver incident in Christchurch overnight.
A police spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com officers saw a vehicle of interest travelling on Coopers Road at around 12.30am.
“Police signalled the vehicle to stop, however it failed to do so and fled from police.
“A pursuit was not initiated due to the manner of driving by the vehicle,” the spokesperson said.
The vehicle was later found abandoned after crashing into a power pole on Gayhurst Road.
“A Police Dog Unit located the alleged driver, hiding on the roof of a nearby property, a short time later.
While the man was taken into custody, police located ammunition on his person,” the spokesperson said.
The 23-year-old is due to appear in Christchurch District Court in October facing multiple charges, including failing to stop, resisting police, and driving while disqualified.
