Fire and Emergency crews have responded to several callouts across Christchurch overnight after trees and powerlines were brought down during unsettled weather.
A tree fell onto a car on Buchanans Road in Hei Hei, prompting a response from local crews. No injuries were reported.
Crews were also called to reports of powerlines down on Coleridge Street at the Gasson Street intersection in Sydenham, where lines were found on the ground and the area was made safe.
In Governors Bay, a tree came down across a road, blocking access and requiring removal to restore safe passage for motorists.
Another callout was received in Aranui after powerlines were reported down over the road on Carisbrooke Street.
MetService said the city was expected to remain mostly cloudy with morning drizzle, followed by just the chance of a shower from midday.
Gusty northeasterlies were forecast to turn lighter southerly in the afternoon.
