Emergency services are at the scene of cell tower fire in Burwood.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at 8.30PM on Mairehau Road, near Chartwell Street.

An eye witness told Chris Lynch the tower, which is opposite Burwood Hospital, is on fire at the very top.

Two fire appliances, and a police unit are on the scene.

Orion staff have also arrived.

Chorus hasn’t reported any outages in the area on its website.
