A out of control driver rammed a police vehicle after refusing to stop on Christchurch’s Northern motorway early this morning.
Police signalled for the vehicle to stop near the Belfast Road off ramp at about 3.30am after it was seen travelling at excessive speed.
Senior Sergeant Kerry Joyce told chrislynchmedia.com the driver refused to stop for police and rammed the Police vehicle, before fleeing towards Marshland.”
The force of the collision caused the airbags inside the vehicle to deploy.
Joyce said the driver had not yet been located and enquiries were ongoing.
The police vehicle sustained moderate damage and was not driveable.
No injuries were reported.
