A well-known Christchurch shopping centre has been listed for sale as investor interest in large-scale retail property continues despite wider economic challenges.
Dress Smart Hornby, located on Main South Road in Hornby, is the only dedicated outlet centre in the South Island.
It features more than 40 stores across 7,100 square metres, including brands such as Adidas, Puma, Icebreaker, Hallensteins, Bonds and Tommy Hilfiger.
The centre, which sits near a major State Highway 1 intersection, is being offered for sale through Bayleys Real Estate via a deadline private treaty closing on 14 August.
The shopping centre occupies just over 12,600 square metres of land and includes more than 300 car parks.
Its proximity to Christchurch Airport and residential expansion in the southwest of the city are also seen as key advantages.
The property is currently managed by an external firm, but will be sold without a management agreement in place. It has an estimated net income of more than $5 million per year.
Bayleys says interest is expected from both local and Australian-based investors, amid increasing demand for large-format retail space in urban areas.
