Police are appealing for information after a ute was stolen in Ōmakau yesterday, with two dogs still missing.

Sergeant Regan Price from Cromwell Police said officers are investigating a burglary in Alexandra on Saturday, which was followed by the theft of two vehicles linked to the incident.

After the burglary, a stolen vehicle was dumped near Ōmakau.

A second vehicle, a white Holden Colorado ute, was then stolen from Ōmakau about 1pm. It is this vehicle Police are now seeking.

At the time the ute was taken, it was carrying a trailer and the owner’s two dogs.

The trailer has since been located, but the ute and the dogs have not yet been found.

The ute is a white Holden Colorado with a missing Holden badge on the rear and the registration JKG185.

There have been possible sightings reported across parts of the South Island, including the Maniototo and Waimate areas.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, has information about the whereabouts of the ute or the dogs, or has dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage from the Maniototo area to get in touch.

Information can be provided to Police on 105, either online or by phone, using reference number 260103/4368.
